The Topkapi Palace provides a glimpse of the opulent lifestyle of the Ottoman sultans. Its located on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait and was the epicenter of the Ottoman Empire for over 400 years.
We visited the Royal Harem, which was the residence of the sutan and his family. We saw where the eunuchs (black and white) and concubines lived, and toured the Queen Mother's rooms. And saw exqusite walnut doors inlaid with mother-of-pearl and tortoise shells..
We walked through the Imperial Treasury and saw the 86-carat Spoonmaker's diamond and the Topkapi Dagger, among lots of precious jewelry, coins, etc.
We finished the tour in the huge kitchens and the coffee buildings.
